Cutting into my life.
Sharp edges that define.
Cruel severance.
Pointed.
Cold steel ' shiny, hard, distant.
Cream/grey plastic
warm, smooth, closer.
Why is?
Un-natural ' closer?
Cut/pain ' endings,
Death/severance ' no going back.
No return ' finality.
Blades slicing together
team work ' severance.
Team work - blades;
actually touching.
Wiltshire Staysharp,
a warning of actuality;
'THIS IS WHAT I AM'
engraved,
scoured into the hard steel,
un-erasable,
undeniable.
Circular pivot - the turning point;
the axis of action.
A small circle and a big circle.
Which dominates? Not possible
without the participation of the two blades,
parts that make the whole -
the scissors.
Cutting keenly with knife-ability,
sharp, painful, paring¦
Handles: moulded to fit
everyman/woman's hands,
thumbs, fingers: digital extensions
that allow manipulations - access.
Movement: - repeated swing
to open and close the cutting edges.
Soft swish of sharp metal
as they slide over each other
completing their task efficiently.
Open ' with a click to point
East, West - North, South.
Draw together slowly until the two
become one.
One obliterates the other.
One blade hiding the truth:
the actuality of two.
Marriage: joining of two -
un-seamed covering for Society.
A solid base -
an axis of operations
honed down to a fine point,
which disappears into infinity.
Handles; shaped to fit,
to slide easily. To allow
fine movement
with a stopping point;
the wedding ring.
A symbol of that stopping point
negating the complete claim
of two halves ' keeping them
at a safe distance, allowing
those two halves to be separate
- to exist alone but together.
At the junctions: the steel veers
off in slightly different directions
allowing for the permitted distance
of the two ' others ' recognised
existence ' necessary existence.
The intrusion of another in this safe,
contained team-work; the introduction
of a piece of paper - some material
that needs severance or shaping.
Problems that need a new solution
¦ a metamorphosis ' evolution
to a new understanding ' a new beginning.
Hand fitting and doing the act of severance.
Who decides to cut or shape or change?
Who is given the power? The person
who holds and operates the scissors
has absolute power to change history
to re-write a' known' truth ' an accepted 'Is'.
Am I comfortable wielding that power?
Do I choose to change ' to alter
other perceptions?
Yes!
