Not Forgotten

Some things don't change. Sometimes, however, a change can spring upon us; one of such magnitude that a great amount of time must pass before we realize the impact it made. Now I can't decide why some people just cannot be forgotten. I would assume it's because we have no control over what we remember.... to some extent. But still, on occasions- those which sweep us away in their rich embrace- some moments create a profound change; one where lessons from an irrevocable past cannot lessen this new enormity.

Sometimes we make an effort to remember conversations shared. We try to remember the look in their eyes and the warmth of their presence, as we stepped out of the darkness. We try endlessly to recreate for the senses all that made us smile. And sometimes empty thoughts of times without them are enough to bleed our hearts.

It is on these such occasions I wonder whether to remember is ever worth the pain. But knowing what was once....what could have been....is enough to keep my dreams alive.

Lot of truth here; memories are either good, bad or forgotten. We tend to remember the good or the bad in varying degrees.
