Someone's Daughter

from the ABC set Poetry

She was someone's daughter.
And now, I have daughters too.

So, these days, I can understand
why he hated this world
and every man alive in it.

Because he knew, as I know.
Because he did as I did.
Because he knows as I knew.

We both did exactly the same,
and she was someone's daughter too.

Simple words, simple form; complicated things.

Lovely.

Enjoyed the complexity behind these thoughts. was 'he' the dreaded father-in-law? Or maybe somebody more sinister.
