Wreckage

from the ABC set Poetry

Your storms churned
Tossed the ship of my life
To lie wrecked
On the rocks of your reef.

Your island, distant
Bare and unfriendly
Unredeemed by human habitation
Just the sea-teased flotsam.

Your waves rolled
And threw me down
To claw at the deserted sands
On your beach of abandoned hope.

Hadley.
This reminds of a rough sleeper who used to live on the beach near me.
This could have been written just for him.

I say that Wreckage is really so appropriate. That's the feeling all the way through. Thank you for letting me read this- I enjoyed it
