if it was not for the dawn
new babies would not be born
pictures could not be drawn
we did forever mourn
a bride's dress may not be worn
our tongues from our mouths torn
horses harness' never to adorn
hounds on the hunt heard no horn
parents their children may scorn
all is but a nought and all forlorn

I liked this. A sort of strange cross between 'the house that Jack built' and Dylan's 'It's alright Ma'. Which I don't suppose has ever been tried before (even if it wasn't intentional) ...

twasn't intentional but I like the description. I am an old Hippy so it is a compliment. Love Dylan's lyrics. Thank you ;)

Hi Pia,
love this poem, and by the way from one old hippy to
another, I say Peace, love and Happiness, but doesn't
it annoy you, that the hippy clothes today, are better
than the ones we had?
I had alot of Indian wrap around skirts, but the
problem was, that when you got a gust of wind, the
skirt would blow apart and end up showing your
knickers, very embarrasing.
Jenny.

I had some indian wrap around trousers and the same thing happened reavealing my ugly legs ;) I usually say that they were very mellow days. Sunshine Superman and Mellow Yellow ;) Loved being a hippy just like you did! About the clothes- they are just too expensive, mostly!!I sow! Then it looks just like I want it to.and knit bright socks with all sorts of patterns but I have the time- spent with joybugs ;)

Hi Pia,
That's amazing you make your own clothes, I can sow,
but I'm hopeless at the pattern bit and cutting out,
also I don't own a sowing machine. I admire anyone
who can have the artistic ideas to design their own
clothes. Gosh and knitting aswell, I used to knit,
but I find it hard to sit down for to long, I get
stiff. 'Oh my aching body!' Ha, Ha.
I love all the Indian clothes, but like you said,
they are so expensive, I don't think I could get
away with waring them now anyway. I tend to live in
jeans, or leggins. What about you?
Jenny.
Kahdai | September 10, 2010 - 21:26
Dono about 'getting away with' yet I still dress like a hippy sometimes :)
Highhat | September 11, 2010 - 08:01
Jenny- I live in jeans most of the time as well and T-shirts. But I do love knitting- knit a lot of things for others as well- I really relax with my legs crossed -yoga style-in my rocking chair with a piece of knitting. Oh I don't have a sewing machine at the moment so I sew by hand- that limits the outcome . I used to have a sewing machine but it broke down- had it for years, used to sew jackets and skirts and trousers- you name it. Used to make my own patterns and cut them out. All you need is a good pair of scissors!!I also buy 2nd hand clothes- less expensive.
Well this hasn't much to do with writing stories or poems !!
Thanks for the conversation. Great !!
pia xx ;)
