One-way street (I.P)

If I were racing down the road,
quick step on my feet,
who would be going the opposite way?
On their way to the past?
As I am certainly on my way to the
future.
Maybe it is a one-way street?
Perchance the ghosts
of time gone by?
They certainly do haunt my brain
and martyr my soul,
as turmoil did fill
the yesterday.
These are the times
I would rather forget.
No love, no sanctuary
not even a warm embrace.
Seems as though it was
a time of warfare
between partners
in crime.
Of war and peace the truth just twists.

Though I was the innocent and
naïve,
wishing I had been about my wits,
but fate was merciless
and now I am doomed to
remember so vividly.
The future must
appease these
weary times
and bring fruit upon
my table
and wine to my palate.

Hello Highhat.

Another little tale I have enjoyed.

"...and bring fruit upon my table
and wine to my palette..."

I'm sure your table will soon be filled with fruit.
regards.

Hi Pia,

there should only be a one way street, that is the
one that takes you forward into a better future,
where you only have to look back down the street, to
know that things can only get better.

If by chance you see someone going the other way,
you can say, 'hang on a minute, if you intend on
going that way, I am older and wiser than you and
I suggest you take another street.'

Hope I read this poem right, I think you have so
much to say about your life, it's a credit to you,
that you have managed to write what you feel in words
and I take my hat off to you Pia.

A great one for the IP.

Thankyou for the read.

Peace and Happiness,

Jenny.

Pia, another little gem;-) Much enjoyed. IPs certainly seem to be more than inspiring, if this is anything to go by.

I enjoyed this very much also, Pia.

Just one question, did you mean `palette' or `palate'? I guess either would fit.
