I walked almost sideways into the room , the book opened at the page my teacher had given me. I had no idea what the picture or rather photography depicted. It was my biology exam.
I flunked it this way.
On the page was a microscopic picture enlarged a thousand times. I had no idea what it was. I'll tell you what I discovered later: we had looked at this picture several times in the course of the years tutoring and it was the depiction of a cell- a single cell- a hermaphrodite. It could regenerate itself.
At the time when I walked into the examination room I had no idea what it was. I went blank- the black carpet fell down on my brain so I started to talk about osmosis. I explained that if you take a glass tube and put an onion skin over the top- well eureka osmosis.
This had nothing to do with the topic of the examintion so I failed. I flunked my exam.
It was not a good feeling when the teacher came out of the room a few minutes after I had departed and annonced that I had got a large ZERO.
The actual topic has fastened itself to my memory after discovering what it all was about and I used the mitochondria as an example when my son recently was to be examined in the same subject.
It seems as though it is all I know about biology- the mitochondria.
Is it true? Did I mess things up again?

Thank you so much for the comments Kahdai and Julie. My english is going rotten (used to be my native tongue- 39 years ago!! ;)) so vocabulary is very naive but it is fun. I love this site ;D

I think english is the only language that puts all the words in the wrong order, like backward sentences. This website is great to improve it though! K xx

english is a difficult language and the further away from it you get with daily use the more difficult it seems. My vocabualry is very simple nowadays but I do have a lot of fun on this site. I can't improve much though. Not that it doesn't need improving ;)which it most certainly does.

You think english is hard? try listening to someone from round my way speaking it; sometimes it sounds like a foreign language! Liked your piece though - never ever drew a blank in an exam so i didn't have that excuse when i failed a few of them.
