There once was a rat called 'Wat
he was most decidely fat
All brown and shiney
With a tail that was slimey
No, he wasn’t a fake
Not food at all for the snake
Arthur he fancied him for sure
A rat could be quilte demure
So he was kept as a pet
All shiney and slimey, he looket wet
He never rummaged in the bin
That would absolutely be a sin
He was put in a cage
Quilte fat at this stage
From eating what seemed a feast
Of mice and cheese and yeast
But really he wasn’t that tough
And eventually enough was enough
He was given away
To a laboratoray
Where he met quilte a few of his type
Working all day he was a hype
Drugged and bitten by crazes
He ran around in laboratory mazes
As you can see he was no ordinary rat
But one they all called 'Wat

Hello Pia - you're going to have to change the age rating for this poem because of the name you've given your rat. If you google it you'll see what I mean!

Nice poem Highhat. The title reminds me of a 1977 record by a group called The Stranglers
(great album with classic tracks such as "Get a grip on yourself", "Peaches" and "Hanging Around").
Like how you rhymed "away" with "Labratoray". Perhaps it would be good to keep that spelling throughout.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks Insert- I decided to change the name- didn't even have to look it up- just took a guess. ;D

Hi Peterelbee
Yes I am sure it would have read even funnier- may try it another time- thanks good idea. Can't remember hearing the album but have heard of it. It is the latin name for a brown rat-!!!

Very amusing Pia. You could have called your rat Pat and then there would not have been any misunderstanding. Quite a challenging IP this week.
Best of luck.

Hi Pia,
'Love it,' what can I say other than well done on the
IP. I actually have that Stranglers Album on vinyl,
brilliant album.
Thanks for a very funny read.
Jenny.

Thanks Luigi. I settled for wat as it sounds like rat without the "r"

Yes Jenny I saw on google that Rattus Norvegicus was an album but I have never heard it. Is it punk?
thanks a lot for your comment. Glad I could make you laugh.
I hate rats.In Northern India they breed and eat them. Yuk.- well respect I suppose. I would rather starve.

Hi Pia,
they were a kind of punk band, but to me they were
original, I saw them live three times and each time
I had to be down the front, the atmosphere was out
of this world.
Jenny.

I thought so too Tina but W(r)at is okay if you can't pronounce the "r" which I suspect Arthur couldn't- ha ha-thanks for commenting- kind of you

Enjoyed this a lot Pia ;)
Reminded me of a cartoon my little brother used to watch. You might have heard of, it was called 'Pinky and the Brain' :D
Very fun read though :)

Hi Shoe- even though I am not much for wats I have always thought it a bit sad with laboratory animals but I wouldn't want to eat them either like they do in Northern India. urgh....
glad I could entertain you and thank you for telling me
;)Pia
