Six for the six proud walkers (I.P)

A large sweeping property
with a gracious house on the hill
a market garden
and a lot of people
a commune in the zappy eighties
turquoise painted bathroom ceiling
huge dining room with a long wooden table
and chairs helter to skelter
Autumn and chilly winds
blowing in the open fields
hats pulled down around our ears
as we walk proudly beside our small children
hand in hand
3 pairs of parents and
six healthy children who hardly
know what pride is to a parent
but we tell them
all the time how proud we are of them
as they accomplish so much on
their way to a grown-up world
asking questions now and again
but not the way we adults question life
so innocent and with a child’s logic
“how many rabbits can stand on a whale?”

Hello Pia,

I like this, it's very well thought out.
I love the last line:-
"How many rabbits can stand on a whale?"
It's almost like a conundrum.

Great take on the I.P.

new Highhat
Really enjoyed this true to
life children pick up things
quicker than us, like the rabbits
stand on a whale. Mine when small
hed dad say count the cars as they
come along the road. Or I would teach her
about the moon and stars some learn so quick.
A good poem tackle the (IP) too.
Out of the mouth of babes comes the wisdom of truth.
Mine was always so inquisitive. No fooling her.
