Another day may have been chosen
But today was appropriate
Coinciding with the
Dusty dawn
Everyone set off
For yet another walkathon
Getting closer to the
Happy ending
Ignoring the heat
Jaywalking in the traffic
Knowing that it would be just wonderful
Losing the crowd
Marching around the city’s
Natural perimeter
Of brush and woodland
Parked cars
Quiet children sitting on the sidelines
Right and left of their
Shouting parents
Too excited to worry about the heat
Under the sun’s powerful rays
Victory for the first over the finishing line
Walking faster and faster
Xenia came closer and closer
Yet another countdown
Zero - she was number one

Another doffing of my worn cap.
Lovely, I enjoyed this, it reminds me of a charity fund raising beach walk ( no traffic) they held here recently, about 12 miles walk.
