It was all over: the eye apparatus must come off the beast. He must face cold storage, or possibly an audience with the Master. It hadn't been decided yet, what his fate was to be.
Whatever his fate, he would be shocked at knowing the truth, knowing it was all just a game, another trick of the Master's.
"Take off the machine now, and switch off the computer."
The beast looked around: it was clinically clean, everything was white and silver, and beautiful, jade, fish-morphed beasts, attended the control room. Other beasts, still entrapped by the virtual reality machines were having their 'lives'.
"So, that was it, it was all just a computer-generated field of unreality."
"Your life, you mean?"
"Yes. What is the Master going to do with me now?"
"Who knows?"
"What did you think of the life?"
"It had its ups and downs".
"None of the people were real, you know."
"Yes, that's quite a shocking idea."
"It was just virtual reality. There is no earth - that's just an idea generated by the Master. We are here suspended in a hollow egg in ether. It's called the Pod. There is nothing outside the Pod."
"No, none of us knew."
"Well, they don't exist, the others. You just imagined them."
"But I could touch them."
"You thought you could, that's all. You will probably go into deep Somnab now, sleep for a thousand years."
"Will I meet this Master ?"
"Possibly, but no one is judged after the virtual insanity, sorry, I mean reality. There is nothing to judge. It was all pre-planned, pre-programmed."
"I just want to sleep."
"Yes, here come the Somnab assistants now: lay your beastly body down."
"May all praise go to the Master."

Very Matrix. I like the somnab idea. Is it going to be a longer piece or just a thought provoking short?
One thing that you do - had'nt, does'nt etc and it's hadn't, doesn't etc. Sorry, it just catches my eye each time...thought I'd say.

That apostrophe thing, I was not aware of, thanks for pointing it out. Its just a short, but I am sure someone enterprising could make a novel out of it !

Doeslittle sounds female. Am I right?

You're quite right. Doeslittle is female, though generally known as Rachel away from the internet.
