The seas of Time with jewels shine and rise on every side;
Not for me an earthbound sea or ebbing moon-tossed tide;
Sing me the legends of the stars, the sagas of Mankind ....
Where is the world my love dwells on
Across the sea of Time?
*
The sun-wind sings of planet-rings, and dazzles my heart so;
But sorrow lies upon my eyes, and homeward would I go
To find the peace where all things cease, and calm my restless mind -
But in what haven on what world
Across the sea of Time?
*
Wanderlust and faithful trust is all that beckons me;
Comet-dust and rocket thrust across eternity;
Laser trails and solar sails - with them my life I bind ....
To find the world my love dwells on
Across the sea of Time.
*
There is a star I left so far that gave the light its birth;
There is a song I sing so long that dreams of planet Earth;
There is a flame that burns his name in every space I find ...
There is a world my love dwells on
Across the sea of Time.
*
If I had flight on wings of light, immortal would I be;
Each way I go, there time would slow.... into infinity;
Love cannot bide where space is wide, nor any hope be mine -
No bridge of Man can ever span
The other side of Time.

Somehow Indrani, this reminds me of the very best of Hawkwind, with a 'henge' atmosphere. I feel science and folklore weaves into a unique genre which I really like. Thanks for sharing.

Actually, Scratch, this was written as a song, one of a few dozen on space and sci-fi themes. I had several on MySpace, but something happened on there and some sites were ruined. I just can't find the time to repair it, and I'm not good with all this convoluted software which takes ages to learn. However it will be done when I've finished putting stuff on here, and you will be able to hear some of the songs with synth backing. (This is not the genre called 'Filk', as all my melodies are original).
Thanks for your flattering comment!
