The Fall of Atlantis.
Atlantis, land of glory,
Atlantis of red and green-gold dust,
Atlantis shining in the morning,
And the waters whispered;
“Atlantis, land of love…”
Atlantis lay asleep amidst,
The lulling ocean waves,
The wind blew from the east,
And picked up to a blaze,
The moon shone wine-red in the sky,
The day Atlantis died…
The black sea and the greystone,
Green mountains crashing to the sea,
Tall city walls ran unto dust,
A million souls in the abyss a-wash,
The land roared down below,
The waters reclaimed the sea;
And us, and us, and us…
Atlantis land of glory,
Atlantis of green and red-gold dust,
Atlantis shining in the morning,
And the waters whispered;
“Here I was…”

I enjoyed reading your poems, Jaques. It seems lyrical poetry is not often written these days. Rather than just clever words, I feel that the rhyme and metre endorse the meaning and emotion in the poetry - adding two more dimensions.

Thank you. Yes it seems I am one the few I know who still write lyric poems. Glad you enjoyed it...All of the best...
