Buddy Breath

Zephyr caressing my back
whispering impishly in my ears
giving the learning I lack
oiling my mind's slick gears

These thoughts of mine mingle
with the luberence of your sound
and your touches' terrific tingle
that renders me; spellbound

In this gusty wasteland
that is our current home
I seem unable at present to stand
pulled out by a current, the undertow; alone

Now please remove the moon, replace the sun
oh, unseen ever-moving one
Someone forces me on my knees
blow him away my guardian breeze

how much they squeeze, they pressure
searching for a non-existing treasure
by this cold machine controlled
army who has me firmly in its hold

programmed for honour and bravery
programmed for death and deceit
we're under voluntary slavery
where's the women, the wine, the wheat?

nibbling on tidbits of meat
stare at my travel worn feet
they're smelly, they stink, they reek
a far cry from sex in silk sheets

so from memory our love I delete
you quit, I admit, it was neat
sitting waiting on my slouched seat
again my friend the wind I'll meet

Gale conversing with me naturally
our feelings move and dance in time
we question each other gently
we agree there's no definite crime

right and wrong comparative concepts
two sedatives so strongly connect
they're called simply honest and true
what's wrong to me perhaps isn't that wrong to you

reasoning religions relativity
can't you see your costly captivity
brought about by consecration
to obey those rules you're facing

words ricochet off an unhearing ear
no wonder things aren't all that clear
so I'll rather talk to my friend the air
that moves around me, that's always there.

Walvisbay, 1989.
