the nightingale's song

from the ABC set 'Selected Poems: 1989 - 2009.'

The Nightingale’s Song.

“The Butterflies danced,
The Stars Laughed,
A million Angels in Love,
Shining from the Heavens,
Like cascading waterfalls,
I hear your voice;

Like the song of the Sirens,
The Tears of the Sun,
The Love of the Lily,
The Dark Night that comes,

The Butterflies danced,
On the Tears of the Sun,
The Angels in Love…”
The Nightingale’s Song.

A pretty enough poem, sir, but fourteen lines doth not an sonnet make.

There is no metre or rhyme or half-rhyme or any kind of sonnet-like structure. Sorry to stick flies in ointments.

Not a sonnet, but very song-like. You should set it to music...
