snowscape

Snowscape.

The world was white with snow. It lay in thick banks all over the ground. The whole world was covered in a blanket of thick snow.

The sky was not overcast, but shone blue above. Scattered clouds were cast out over the sky. The sun shone brightly, but with little heat. The air was crisp and cold. All over the earth the white snow lay thick.

A few birds sat in the bare branches of the trees, or flew about the sky. Most of them had flown south for the winter. On the snow the world was deserted, as most of the animals were hibernating. There was no sign of life, and no sound, save for the wind sweeping softly over the snow.

The river was frozen over, and did not bubble past as it did in summer. It lay silent under the ice, and white snow. The world was brilliantly white in all directions, endless carpets of smooth thick snow.

The whiteness spread out in all directions under the blue sky, and there was no sound except the wind blowing gently over the plain. This was winter, and this was as it would be for another six months, a white world of snow.

The End.
