the rain

The Rain.

I.

The clouds were banked up thick against the sky. Their dark grey mass spread out against the canvas of the heavens. The thunder boomed and echoed as it rolled out from the clouds. The lightning streaked across the dark sky. The wind ripped and swept over the valley. The storm picked up in strength, and the clouds opened, as the rain poured down.

The rain fell down in a thick blanket over the land. Countless drops of water poured down in a continual stream from the dark clouds above. The droplets splashed down on the rooftops of the buildings, and on the ground, and collected into streams of water that rushed down the gutters. Small puddles of water built up here and there on the pavement and on the streets.

The rain fell down with ferocity, as it splashed out on to the ground. It came down in a never-ending gush of water. It was spread out across the land. The rain poured, and still it poured.

II.

The boulevard was deserted except for one solitary figure walking in the drenching rain. The man walked in the streams of water as it poured endlessly from the sky. He walked over the cobblestone pavement of the boulevard as the rain came down. His feet struck the paving hard and firm, as he strode purposefully forward. And where his strides were full of purpose, he was not.

He was merely walking in the rain, musing over his thoughts. Walking in the rain was a perfect way to relax, and think about things. He thought about his life up to this point, about the hardships and the sorrows. He had much to think about, and still the rain came down, and he walked. He thought about the future; where would he go from here, what would he do now, and what lay waiting for him ahead?

He thought about all these things as he walked. And the rain fell down continually. He strode on down the boulevard as the streams of water came down. His clothes were soaked as he walked in the drenching rain, and still he strode on.

III.

Above, the dark grey clouds were banked up against the night sky. The thunder rolled and the lightning flashed across the heavens. The wind swept to and fro over the valley, with increasing strength, and the rain poured down.

The raindrops splashed out in countless millions on the buildings and the roads, forming streams on the surface, which quickly ran away down the gutters. Small puddles of water built up here and there on the pavement and on the streets.

The rain fell down with ferocity, as it splashed out on to the ground. It came down in a never-ending gush of water. It was spread out across the land. The rain poured, and still it poured.

The End.
