April Morning.
It is a cool morning, and nice outside. Not too hot, and not too cold. Just right. There is a pleasant breeze that ruffles the trees yellowing leaves in the wind. They are already beginning to shed their coat of leaves as autumn starts. The clouds are spread out over the eastern horizon, and these days it is mostly partly-cloudy.
I didn’t go to hospital yesterday, but will go their next week, hopefully to get a date and appointment for an operation to my damaged hand. The winter is fast approaching and I have to go out and buy a heater, as my room is an outside-room, which gets very cold in the winter time.
I sit and listen to the radio all day, and every day. I listen to the classical music radio-station, and sometimes to one of the CD’s in my collection. I watch very little television; only an hour each night. I watch a local soap-opera and then the news. After this I put the radio back on, and leave it to play softly while I sleep. I go to sleep early and sleep soundly most nights, thanks to medication which was prescribed to me while I was in hospital.
The summer went by very fast due to all the experiences that I had this last year. Now the winter is already knocking on the door for 2009, and it will be very cold again in my place. I will make a fire in my fire-place a few times during the winter, as I do each year. Unfortunately I do not drink any more, and haven’t for years, otherwise I could enjoy a drink while sitting at the fireplace in winter time. I do enjoy having a smoke and a cup of coffee though when I sit by the fire, or a nice cigar once in a while.
I keep on planning to quit writing for a while, but always find myself continuing each week. I do hope I will be able to take a long break from it soon, and return refreshed to write something longer and more substantial. But then again, I always say this to myself, and never get around to doing it. I must take a break from it sometime, hopefully soon.
I am trying to learn how to walk with a walking stick, as I feel it helps me, but find it difficult to get accustomed to the idea of carrying it around with me. Maybe I will get used to it. I probably will have to carry it with me sooner or later in any case.
The winter is approaching and I have a few books I wish to read during the course of the year. The winter will be the ideal time to do this, while I get my hand seen to. Here comes another long, cold winter…
The End.
JP Brown.
