The Fruit of our Labour
Modern man has the benefit of thousands of years of progress. In a sense it is as if he reaps where he did not sow. The benefits which he derives from the modern age are all due to the sacrifices others have made before him. We have thousands of years of Law behind us, which started during the Roman Empire. Today in the Western world the Law protects individuals from unjust prosecution, such as people experienced in the Middle Ages. Modern science and medicine has a history of more than 500 years, and has developed to the level where many lives are saved each day due to Modern Medicine and Medical Practice. Modern technology such as electricity, the family automobile, radio and television, and these days the Internet and the IT-industry – have vastly improved the lifestyle and living conditions of modern man. Here we are talking about the average person. His own intelligence and education level is not very high, none the less he benefits from thousands of years of progress. He may be a pauper, but in many ways he is better of than the Royalty of old, purely because of the wonders of modern science and technology.
The more life progresses, the more the world moves in this way. One day the world should be a virtual paradise for men in terms of society and technology. They will reap where they did not sow, and benefit from the sacrifices we made, and those that have gone before us.
