a man looking out at sea

from the ABC set ФФФ Autumn Leaves

A Man looking out at Sea.

The man stood on the rocks with the waves breaking roughly down below him. The sea was tumultuous and the waves rocked against each other with power, as they rolled on to the shore, to break on the rocks and the sand.

The wind buffeted the man’s face and body, as he stood there with his hands inside his jacket. The wind swept his hair about, and blew hard against his face. The smell of salt was strong in the air, as the wind blew in off the sea. He looked out over the mighty ocean with his own thoughts, all the time pondering the majesty and splendour of nature.

The clouds rolled on in huge gray banks, and it seemed to the man that a storm would be immanent. Maybe the rain would start to fall in a few hours time, or perhaps only later on tonight, but that rain was on the way was a certainty. It was foretold by the rough sea, and the clouds building up above. The wind ripped and pulled to and fro across the sea and the coast. The palm trees near the beach swayed and heaved in the strong wind.

The waves chopped against one another with violence, and battled their way out towards the shore. The sea was a spectacle of might, spread out before the man as he stood on the rocks and looked out at the ocean. The wind blew hard, and the sunshine broke with silver, gold and pink streaks from the space between the clouds. The sea roared and the view was a glorious sight of the dark and golden clouds on the horizon.

And still the man stood on the rocks and watched. He would do so for a long time. He had nowhere else to go, and nothing he would rather do at this moment. He just stood and watched, as the sea rolled endlessly on, and the wind washed against his face.

The End.
