Moses had been out wandering in the wilderness for a long time now. It had been a few seasons and still he was out roaming the desert and living off the land. On this day he walked along a barren path strewn with pebbles and with short shrubs growing next to it. It was nearly mid-day and scorching hot out in the sun.

In the distance he saw some bushes burning, probably set alight by the local inhabitants in the aim to clear the land for farming. He walked over and the bush was burning fiercely with the wind fanning on the flames. The wind was strong and tugged on his garments as well. He went over and watched the fire from close by. He had had very little to eat for days and was feeling the hunger pangs in his stomach. It was hot in the mid-day heat with the sun shining clearly above.

He stood there along time and watched the fire burning. Suddenly it was as if a voice spoke from within him. It was as if God had entered his soul and mind. He could almost discern God’s voice like a roaring waterfall in his ears. It was strong with the power of command. “Moses, go and deliver my children from the bonds of slavery in Egypt,” the thundering voice inside his head seemed to say, “Go and deliver them from rule of Pharaoh. Go and I shall lead you.”

Moses could feel the power of God on him, and he watched as the bush continued to burn. He stood there thinking and meditating to himself. The voice was there no longer but he would go and do as Lord commanded, as his reason drove him along this path as well, and he had no other way than following this compulsion. It was a job that had to be done, and someone had to do it. It may as well be him. He turned to walk back down the path he had come by and left the bush to burn out by itself. The stones and sand crunched under the soles of his sandals as he walked on and disappeared among the hillocks and sand-dunes…

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Your little story is written well especially the description of the burning bramble bush. Realistic!
