Live long and prosper

If one observes ant colonies about the house and garden, one sees the following: There is a discarded fried bean on the floor. The ants go about their business collecting food from it. They swarm about the place travelling to-and-fro from the nest, and gathering food. They appear in large numbers on the floor. In this search for food, it is a percentage game; they will loose a certain number of ants (people’s feet) and they will gain a percentage of food. The food gained goes into reproducing more ants. It is a fine mathematical equation, and the gain-factor outweighs the loss-factor for the ants. The reward is greater than the risk.
