Samantha.
Samantha. Samantha had deep blue eyes. She was beautiful. She sat at a table in the street café, where she had just eaten a toasted sandwich, and had drunk a cup of coffee. She looked over at the clock on the wall. It was a quarter past three in the afternoon. She had to get going. She still had some things she wanted to do before going home. She stood up and pushed her chair in under the table. Then she paid the bill at the counter, and walked out onto the sidewalk outside.
As she walked on, she noticed that the traffic in the street was not so heavy this afternoon. She stopped for a short while to admire a wrist-watch in the window display of an expensive jeweler, and then she continued to walk on. A few scattered drops of rain fell from the cloudy skies above, but soon dissipated and stopped. A gush of wind buffeted her face as she rounded a corner. She walked on past the museum. Across the street were the gardens and offices of the city council. She walked on towards the train station, but stopped to buy some milk and bread at a grocery store.
When she came out of the store with her groceries, she crossed the intersection at the traffic light, and entered the train terminal. She bought a ticket, and walked through the turn-stile onto the platform. Her shoes echoed clearly of the shiny concrete platform as she walked on briskly. She went to platform three, where she boarded her train. The train was new and painted a shiny blue and yellow. The seats in the coach were new, and pleasant to sit in. She seated herself on an empty couch next to a window. The train would soon depart.
As the train rolled out of the station and out onto the open tracks, she looked out of the window over the green fields, and she smiled to herself as she remembered his kiss…
