Saul.

King Saul sat on his throne in his chambers thinking. He sat in deep meditation and thought. He was a man with a world of troubles. It all started back with the giant. Not that he was afraid or anything, but he had the kingdom and the throne to think about. Then along came David.

When he and the giant fought it had been a close call. It looked as if the giant would make short work of the boy, but he hurled his sling-shot a few times, and lo and behold, he hit the philistine a pot-shot between the eyes. It was a fluke. Thereafter he decapitated the giant to the cheers of the people. Yes, that was when all the trouble started. When he entered the city there was much ado about his victory, and the women all went gaga over the handsome lad since then.

After that the lad got a band of men together and roamed the countryside garnering support for his cause from the people. These upstarts have been defying his rule ever since. By this time he had a full blown uprising on his hands, and he had to prepare for the next battle. It was as if he had gone from hero-to-zero in a few years, he thought to himself and frowned. He couldn’t understand it. It was not as if he hated the young man or anything, but what was right, was right. And the sonofabitch thought he could get away with it. Time to get things back into order.

He took his sword from its sheath and inspected it in the glow of the torches that lit his chamber. Its long, keen blade shone in the light as he held it in his hand. It would come in handy at the next battle, and he was sure it would secure him the victory as it had always done. He smiled a grim smile to himself as he prepared for warfare once more…
