It is September and spring in the southern hemisphere. I am looking forward to it as it has been a long cold winter for me. I had a severe bout of flue, so I am enjoying the warmer weather. In springtime everybody’s mood also improves with the weather, and I think generally people seem happier. It will be extremely hot in the summer in the summer, though.
We were plagued since the beginning of the year by what I refer to as ‘the ten strikes’. Everyone from the army to the doctors has been on strike. I think all this industrial action also has to do with the recession. I myself am still among the ranks of the unemployed and will remain so indefinitely. I am hoping to work from home on the PC in future to earn some money.
I obtained some much needed medical help during August. I had a broken tooth extracted and a cyst removed. All-in-all I feel much better physically thereafter. I am going to the farm soon for a weekend and am very much looking forward to the trip and the relaxation. I can see the Southern Cross from the steps of my backdoor, the same way I saw them at night in the yard while I was in hospital a year ago. On the farm I will be able to see it clearly along with all the other stars in the Milky Way, as the stars shine brilliantly out there in the veldt far away from the town and city.
Apart from that I am looking forward to Christmas as I do each year, and along with everyone else I sit and wait in eager anticipation for the World Cup event which we are hosting next year. Being unemployed I will sit for a month or two and watch and enjoy the football. The big boys like Argentina, Brazil, France, Italy and Spain are probably amongst the favourites to win the tournament, so it will be interesting and entertaining to sit and watch as always.
