Sonja.

She was walking down the beach and it was still early in the morning. The sun was shimmering like round, red mirage just above the horison, far out at sea. The morning was crisp and cool, and a refreshing breeze blew over the beach. The last line of small waves broke gently on the wet sand, rolling lightly and spilling out over the shore.

As she walked she left a pair of delicate footprints behind, which was slowly and gradually being swept away by the gently breaking waves. The footprints was washed over by the water, and slowly returned to untouched sand. Only here and there along the shoreline, her prints were still visible on places where the water could not reach.

She walked on happily and looked to see if she could find any whole seashells that were worth picking up, and taking home to her collection. She had only found one so far on her walk; a small cowry. She was in a happy mood, because she was on vacation and had some time to herself to rest and relax. And who knows, perhaps even the chance of some small, unexpected romance while she was on holiday.

She smiled to herself at the thought, as the cold sea-water washed over her feet. Her beach-sandals were in her left-hand and she walked along the beach on her bare feet. It was easier to negotiate the sand and water this way. Then she stopped to look out over the ocean. The sea was so vast and mighty, that there seemed to be no end to it. Yet despite its power and might, it always spoke in soft, hushing voice. A voice that calmed her, and guided her thoughts.

She stood and looked and listened a while longer, before walking on. When she was once more wandering down the shoreline, she was looking for sea-shells, and was lost in her own thoughts. Her footprints appeared and disappeared among the water and the sand, and left scattered tracks along the water-line…
