Two Children in the Park.

The boy stood on the green grass of the park, and surveyed his surroundings. There were trees about, and their leaves were turning yellow and brown with autumn. The days were still warm and pleasant, as it was today. The sun was shining above, and the sky was a brilliant, clear blue. There were a few scattered white clouds drifting lazily past, high above.

His sister was about two years older than him, and the two of them had come to the park to play a bit, and pass the time. His sister was riding a swing gently that stood nearby. There were a few other playing apparatus for children in the park, such as a jungle-gym and a small roundabout. The boy looked at a few bright yellow butterflies gliding gently past in the wind, and smiled to himself. He liked butterflies, all children liked butterflies.

The wind brushed gently against his jacket and face, and rustled among the leaves already discarded by the trees. It whispered through the leaves and the trees, and made the day more pleasant still for the two children out in the park. A white sedan drove past on the street alongside the park, and the driver looked briefly at the children at play, before driving further towards his destination.

Two dogs barked at a house across the street. The one was a large breed, and the other small. They barked for a while, and then started to fall silent once more. The two children kept on playing. The boy went over to the swings where his sister was riding on one of them, and got on one of the others himself. He slowly started swinging next to her, and they didn’t talk much between them as they rode the swings.

The brother and the sister sat alongside on their swings as they gently swung to-and-fro for pleasure. There swings were alternately going up-and-down, up-and-down as they played on. Two children playing in the park, riding their swings, and the wind gently stirred the white clouds in the blue sky above…
