Vision
When I was a boy, my father used to work in his workshop, and sometimes drop a small nut, washer or such. He would then call me, and I had to sit and inspect the floor where it had fallen, in order to find. I have sharp eye-sight, and sooner or later I would find the missing article. It takes concentration. This was my father's method for finding lost items.
A hawk similarly has sharp vision. From high up in the valley he can spot a rodent or lizard, with his perfect focus, and then swoop and dive to catch it...
Choosing sides
When we were lads we used play football during break and sometimes after school. We would stand in a line and the captains of the two sides would choose a player one after the other down the line. This was supposed to be a fair way of determining the two sides, but we would jippo the system and saw to it that us boys who were best at the game, wind up in the same team. This we did by placing ourselves in every second position in the row, and thus we would wind up together in anycase. We would then have a strong side, and would win the game easily. It's nice to play on the winning side.
