Film Review - Super 8 (2011)
As a concept for a film I have no problem with this film, and prior to seeing it was excited about watching it. The film itself has a number of flaws. Yes, the special effects are brilliant, and the young actors show real talent, however the way the film has a complete lack of suspense and intrigue is a massive flaw.

Arguably one of the best things about science fiction films, is anything can happen. The problem with this film is that it's established within the first 20 minutes, the alien just wants to go home, and generally has no beef with the human race. as such the following hour and half seem relatively pointless, as you do not feel you have learnt anything new or gone on a cinematic journey.

Aside from this, the young fat, film director in the film is a well established character whom I believe one can identify with. His sidekick however, if found particularly smug and just quite annoying. The girl in the film is as a plus point, very pretty and appears as if she has genuine acting talent.

As such, I feel I can't recommend this film, unless your a simpleton, who struggles to follow film plots.
