Music Review - Eminem - Recovery (2011)
Before writing this I should explain that I am a big fan of Eminem's. I remember listening to the clean version of his debut album, whilst on a holiday in France, at the ripe old age of 7. Singing along, knowing all the words even now. I will try to be as objective and without bias as much as possible but this could well be difficult.

Nowadays it's rare to listen to a whole album and to like every song, this album is an exception to the rule. Again, similar to the Kanye and Jay Z album, Eminem has brought in some top artists to contribute, including: Pink, Kobe, Lil Wayne and Rihanna.

The collaboration with Pink, Won't Back Down, has a similar feel to the song the White Stripes produced for a James Bond film, Another Way to Die. The album begins strongly with On Fire. In this Eminem introduces himself back to the world of music, thanking fans for being patient in their two year wait for this album. It continues with the aforementioned Pink collaboration. The next few songs are enjoyable, in particular the cover of Going Though Changes, and we then get to one of the tunes of the albums, track 7, Not Afraid. A classic Eminem song, it has a bit of everything, the slow start, the pain, the hurt, the speed up and a classic chorus.

Moving on we then come to two, massive songs, back to back, a beautiful present to his adoring fans. I love the feel, pace and beat of Cinderella Man, followed by the relatively poppy, but painful, Space Bound.

Again though, this isn't it, as I said, every song is enjoyable, there is the obvious, Love the Way You Lie, with Rihanna, and No Love with Lil Wayne but as well there's the more complicated 25 to Life and the all singing all rapping, Your Never Over.

Genuinely, this album is a classic in my eyes, enough said.

5/5
