THE SERPENT
The Secret Serpent coils to spring
and win the world of Priests and Kings.
It always brings and gives delight,
And also knowledge;sometimes blight.
It stirs the heart with drunkenness
by molten drugs...forgetfulness.
The wizard's wine, the devil's brew,
and all the witches burning stew.
In spinning charm, It weaves the spell.
It coils in its secretive cell.
And leads its hosts to victory,
In devastating agony.
Its stature will surpass the spheres,
The winding body shedding fear.
Men will worship... Serpent leads.
Shown the prowess of its deeds.
The last spell, the availing word,
He who denies, will die by sword.
Its orders are so keen and swift,
That all men bow, their arms uplift.
Among their feet ,the Serpent thrives,
And while it grows, it takes their lives.

The Secret Serpent can be the mystic dragon, the Kundalini force or the devil.
Here in the West we are taught that the Snake lost us Paradise but in the East the Snake aided Buddha.
Your poem seems to lean toward the Western view of the snake - a view I'm not sure I still hold but...
snakes may be sneaky :O)

Thanks Mangone! As a Gothic Poem I choose this view of the serpent. Dark.
