The earth has shown its strength again.
Horror & hunger, looting & loss
Nature's shown us who is boss.
Mayhem & mourning, fire & fear
In a blink lives disappear.
Chaos & crying, heartbreak & hope
A country that just cannot cope.
Old folk & orphans, confusion & crime
Survivors who are short on time.
Soldiers & saviours, death & despair
A sense that life is so unfair.
Rubble & ruins, bodies & blood
The world's response begins to bud.
Aid & appeals, compassion & care
A call to alms we all can share.
