HOW QUICK (TRUST TO DUST)

One thing in life I fail to learn
Is how quick a friend can turn,
From someone you think you can trust
To one who turns your heart to dust.

You thought they'd always have your back
Then from nowhere they attack,
With words as sharp as any blade
Leaving you at once dismayed.

Sudddenly from clear blue skies
An outburst takes you by suprise,
A frienship you once held secure
Is compromised for evermore.

How quick can be your fall from grace
You see a smile on their face,
Then from behind those smiling teeth
Come words that burst your heart with grief.

A hurtful name, a vicious word
Something you've too often heard,
But not from one you thought your friend
A happy time brought to an end.
