Tell me gentles what you see
Behind your lidded eyes?
Can you behold a sunset,
Or conjure cloudless skies?
In your imagination
Can you spy a lush green hill?
Can your mind's eye reveal
A grey sea never still?
Can you paint a landscape
Of autumn's brown clad trees,
Or flowers softly swaying
In a timid summer breeze?
Can you see a loved one,
Discern their smiling face?
Picture them within your arms
Wrapped in your embrace?
For me there's mostly shadows
Once my eyes fall shut,
Interspersed by flashing lights
I see no image but
I do not view this failing
As some kind of a curse,
I do not crave your sympathy
In truth it could be worse;
For words instead come to me
Describing what's unseen,
I might not see its colour
Yet I "hear" the hill is green.
I see no trees or sunsets
Sightless my mind's eye,
By words alone, not pictures
My imaginings let fly.

I don't know why this did not get cherry picked, it's as good as if not better, the second part especially, than the unread story, an intriguing poem.

Thank you Shirley - a thumbs up from you is easily worth more to me than a cherry!!

this is wonderful kheldar,! is it true about you,? I sometimes wish I had less graphic a minds eye for the vivid imagination some words give me. K

Hi Kahdai. Yes it is true, this is exactly how my imaginination works. It fascinates me how our minds can work so differently. I read this poem to a monthly writers group I attend and it did seem to be something people hadn't considered before.
I hope your able to channel your own vivid imaginings into your work!
Thank you again for all your recent comments, it means so very much.
Take care,
