WINTER SCENE

from the ABC set THE WORLD ABOUT ME

Winter rooftops cloaked with frost
Roads beneath a white skin lost,
Redundant windows turned opaque
The frozen city starts to wake.

In the stark, grey light of dawn
A fox's footprints strafe the lawn,
Nigh the river, a lurking fog
A swaddled woman walks her dog.

The branches of the naked trees
Are rattled by a bitter breeze,
Much like Midas and his gold
All it touches turns to cold.

The snow at first a Christmas scene
Has taken on a spiteful mien,
O'ernight Jack Frost performed his trick
It turned to ice, sly and slick.

A walker wobbles, short on grip
Blushes and bruises await should he slip,
A car skates down a frozen street
Beneath its wheels a treacherous sheet.

A robin clad in fiery vest
Seeks for food with peckish zest,
A child plays with nary a care
Dragonlike breath befogs the air.

Smoke curls from a chimney pot
The fire's warm, the coffee's hot,
Here quite snug I will abide
This winter scene best seen inside.

many clever, quirky lines in this Kheldar,

"Much like Midas and his gold
All it touches turns to cold."

Much Enjoyed,:~}
