Crisis in a cake shop

from the ABC set Poetry - The Recollected

She was having a crisis
in a cake shop
she was her and yet
not her
there
among the
chocolate éclairs, fruit slices
90p for trifle
45p for custard
tarts
and passion fruit
gateau.

All stared at her
through the glass
shiny and bright
as she had once been

She was having a crisis
in a cake shop.

Oh, well, if you're going to have a crisis (and crisis is my most overused pastime) then where better to have it than in a cake shop. Any crisis has got to fel better with a hunk of that passion fruit gateau. I'm getting a feel for your stuff now, you are distinctive.
