Children In Storms

from the ABC set Stories for the heart

Here in the United States, we spend 17 billion dollars a year on missing and abused children. We spend 45 billion dollars a year on the care of our pets.

The news is constantly reporting missing, abused, neglected and murdered children. I wrote a song back in the early 90s after waking up from a thunder storm. The words of the chorus are still haunting to me.

Many people lose their children and loved ones in the storms of evil. My wife,Tammy and I have had close calls with our kids and it still chills us to the bone to talk about them. It isn't only by instinct that we protect our children...we love them.

Maybe the old song lyric will say how I feel in the best way.

"How many children are out in a storm"

Thunder woke me up last night
I felt really strange
Got up to check on the kids
They were both OK

As I closed their window
A thought came to mind
I'm a lucky man because
I can keep the rain outside

CHS.
How many children are out in a storm
With no one to help them or keep them from harm
Blankets may cover but love keeps us warm
How many children are out in a storm

My little boy grabbed his bear
Hugged it in his sleep
I thank God that he was there
Not out in the street

Kneeling by my little girl
With a sunken heart
Thinking what would come of her
If life took us apart

BR
Can you imagine
Do you know where they are

CHS.
