House on Blood Road chapter 1

from the ABC set House on Blood Road

Detective Collins walked out of the house and was fighting back vomiting. Locals were gathered behind the yellow tape as the coroner walked in. One of the community rednecks spoke out,"I bet it was devil worshipin'.....that teenage girl of theirs was a weirdo!" A well dressed woman said," She was weird....my son said she always came to school smelling like candle smoke."

Another man said,"George was a great guy...fixed my watch and made some real neat little crosses for me and the misses." An elderly gentleman spoke out,"Shame...a damn shame...old George made us some jewelry just last week....a great Jeweler he was." A woman spoke,"Yes he was nice but that wife of his almost never came out of the house except for church." Another spoke out,"Yip, but they shoulda learn't better english....commin' here from Italy and all."

A deputy shouted at the forming crowd to go home. In just a few moments and mumbles, the crowd for the most part disappeared. After about 15 minutes, the medical teams began bringing the bodies out. They looked strange because the sheets were poking up from the bodies in different places. After the bodies were removed, Detective Collins returned into the house.

The entire living room was covered in blood spatter. The furniture was flipped over and misplaced. Clothing was ripped and scattered. Broken drinking glasses cluttered the floor along with feces and tufts of hair. Detective Collins mumbled,"God, this looks like an orgy of murder." All of the doors that led outside had been securely dead bolted from within.

Not one window even had a crack in it. There was no basement and the attic was clear. The television was turned on but the sound was turned all the way down. A small radio on a window sill was playing rock and roll. The station was WTUE from Dayton Ohio. The old song,"Werewolves of London" was playing as a Deputy shut it off.

Detective Collins noticed a tiny necklace with a cross on the floor by a broken wine glass. He picked it up slowly, held it up.... looked at it by the light and said,"Well, it wasn't the devil....these folks were Christians."

Five family members had been murdered. The Issem's (pronounced Izem) were average folk and their deaths had Detective Collins totally lost as to why? The last investigative pictures were taken and the house was closed up. Detective Collins had written in his notebook, "George-father, Katrin-mother, Natasha-daughter 16, Lilian-daughter 14, and Nathan-son 13. The detective was determined to find out who killed the Issem's.

Detective Collins showed up at the Coroner's building to talk with Coroner Joe Blackstone. In the examination room, the bodies were all naked (just as taken from the house) with knives, glass shards, screw drivers, and other objects protruding from each body. Every mouth was full of broken glass and George Issem's mouth was full of razor blades."

Joe held up a plastic bag with jewelry in it and said," I found 4 little crosses on all but Natasha." Detective Collins said," Yeah....I got one in an evidence bag that was probably hers.

Coroner Joe told Detective Collins, " It looks to me like they killed each other...in short...I can't find one defensive wound on any of their bodies." Detective Collins looked at him with concern and said," Joe....you've been at this shit too long...come on now....they killed each other?" Coroner Joe directed him to the body of Natasha. He picked up her hand and said,"Look, you can still see the unique screwdriver handle design embedded in her palm....the same screwdriver that is protruding from Katrin's left breast.

Detective Collins looked at her hand and then at Katrin's body. He then asked,"If...I say if they killed each other.....how in the hell did they stay alive long enough to stick all of these things in each other.....it must have been one hell of a frenzy!" Coroner Joe then said," I can't be sure right now....but it just looks that way to me." He went on saying, " It will take a while to run all the tests needed and I damn sure want to know what happened with this family! "

In three months, the test results began coming in from the crime labs. Only family finger prints were on the murder weapons. The tufts of hair all belonged to family members. Finger nails that were broken off in the skin matched the females. There were traces of each others blood in the stomachs. There was no kind of drug in any body. The family in some kind of frenzy murdered each other.

To keep the public from being enraged at the police.....the deaths were ruled as murder suicide by the parents. The case was closed by the book but still open in the mind of Detective Collins. He couldn't get the pictures of the families bodies out of his mind. It bothered him quite a bit..

On a night of Halloween, two teenage boys came to his door trick or treating. They were pretending to be Zombies chanting.," Messiah Satan....Messiah Satan!" Detective Collins dumped some candy in their bags and said," Ok boys...what's with the Messiah Satan crap?"

One of the boys spoke out, "You know....Messiah Satan...it is Natasha Issem spelled backwards....she's the bitch of the house on blood road!"

Detective Collins felt stunned as he shut the door. Was there a link to her name? Was Natasha the instigator of the killings? Natasha had 17 knives and three screwdrivers stuck in her body....she couldn't have done it all? Every one who knew Natasha and the other family members had been interviewed. There was no sign of devil worship at all. There were even pictures of Jesus on the walls of the house and a large wooden cross that hung above Natasha's bed.

Detective Collins got little sleep that night and went right to his files the next morning. He dug through the pictures, reports and then, the evidence bags. He found the bag of jewelry. He dumped it on a desk and noticed there were 3 tiny gold crosses and two silver crosses. Then he picked up one of the crosses to hold under the desk lamp. The design was just too small to see with the naked eye.

He got out a magnifying glass from the drawer to get a closer look. He was astonished at what he saw. Chills went down his spine and a cold feeling came over him. He grabbed the other crosses and they were the same. He ran to get the picture of Natasha's body. He breathed harder as he compared her wounds to the number of tiny spikes in the body carvedout on the gold cross. There were 20 wounds in the picture and 20 on the tiny body of the cross.

Detective Collins then got on the internet and began searching for crosses with bodies covered in spikes. he searched for almost an hour until he came across a page that had a very similar picture. A description of the picture was : This cross is 3 feet by 2 feet...It was stolen from the vault of Pierre Leshont in 1922. The cross is solid gold. It is known as the suicide cross. Legend has it that those who posses this idol for 6 full moons, 6 nights and 6 hours will become toys of the great one's demons. It was a gift to enemy kings from a secret sect of the church.

Detective Collins was not a superstitious man but this was some weird shit. He also read on the page that Pierre Leshont had committed suicide after the cross was stolen. The Roman Catholic Church was to this day, still searching for the cross.. It was known to them as the most evil and dangerous religious artifact ever discovered. Pierre was paid well to keep the cross in his underground vault. Pierre had received a special blessing from the Pope to protect him from the cross's curse. The cross was somehow exchanged with a lead based replica.

Detective Collins knew that George Issem had at least obtained part of the suicide cross gold and melted it down to make jewelry. Fore some reason, he made tiny replica's of the original. Must have been just a coincidence that George named his daughter ,Natasha?

A police officer shouted out to Detective Collins, " Hey Daniel....you're not going to believe this shit....we have another murder just like the Issem's, dispatch is calling for all of us!
