Daniel pushed open the large iron door of the mausoleum and the light rushed in with blowing leaves like bats returning to a cave. He turned and smiled at Cora....the wind was blowing her soft hair as if it were dancing around her beauty. He said,"I don't know why but being around you makes me feel good....really good." Cora smiled as she stepped by Daniel who was holding the door. Father Rossini smiled and whispered,"I feel that way too Daniel...she is an amazing woman."
Daniel suggested that they all go to his house, have breakfast and talk about the next move to make. Daniel called Chief Charlie Camden. Daniel said,"Charlie....I can't go into details but we will need a little more time on this...can you hold them off a while...at least till tomorrow" Chief Camden replied,"The media is crawling all over here....the city is half crazy...I just told the Mayor to grow a pair....my mother-in-law is coming this weekend....sure Daniel...take all the damn time you want!"
Daniel laughed and said," Are you OK Charlie" Chief Camden replied," Yeah...I'm OK...I've been getting calls from paranormal groups, Hollywood...hell ...even the TAPS people called...my damn voice mail is maxed out....just get the job done Daniel...at least you have that sexy lady to hang out with....all I have is Peirce and Jackson who keep screwing with the Goth kids in the holding cells." Charlie pulled the phone from his ear and yelled,"Guys...quit telling them that God is a cop!"
Daniel was laughing as Chief Charlie came back on the phone saying,"Like I said Daniel, just get it done...as fast as possible....I really need this shit to end." Daniel told him that he would give it his best shot and hung up. Daniel drove to his house and they all were greeted by Betty the Border Collie. She took to Cora and Father Rossini instantly. Daniel thought it was strange because Betty could be very protective and skiddish around strangers.
Cora insisted that she cook breakfast and rounded up just enough ingredients for a Volcano Pancake. She mumbled frequently how disorganized and sloppy Daniel was. Father Rossini and Daniel sat and talked at what Daniel called his retro 50s red and white kitchen table. Father Rossini said,"I haven't been quite straight with you Daniel." Daniel tipped back on his chair and said,"I figured that when you pretty much did nothing when that goon thing was bopping our princess Dorina."
Father Rossini grinned and said,"Remember I told you about Father Andre Fleshing?" Daniel answered,"Yeah...he was the murdering pedophile that has 20 graves." Father Rossini went on,"This is hard to tell you Daniel...but your grandfather ...the man you were named after worked with me on the case about 42 years ago...he was killed by Gozin when we interfered with the ritual of slaughter."
Daniel with a totally surprised look on his face said,"You got the wrong guy Padre, my grandpa was a flatfoot who died of a heart attack...I was just a kid but I remember dad telling me the story....oh shit...he died chasing an intruder from 641 Bane road....the Issem house!" Daniel was getting angry as he said,"What the hell Padre....you knew my grandpa and you don't say a word...what the hell really happened?"
Father Rossini with a tear in his eye said,"I am so sorry Daniel...I couldn't let revenge get in the way of stopping him....Your grandfather died in my arms...I tried to stop him but he went after Gozin with a vial of blessed blood....your grandfather covered Gozin with the blood and allowed the 20 souls to tear apart Father Fleshing...Gozin did not want that to happen."
Daniel said,"Why my grandfather...why did you choose him?" Cora spoke out,"Your grandfather and you are direct descendants of Boniface...through his mother's side of the family...it was your grandfathers own blood that he cast on Gozin." Father Rossini spoke,"Yes Daniel...she is right....you are the key to stopping Gozin and Dorina....the key to stopping the very birth of evil."
As Cora served breakfast...Daniel said,"OK...let me get this right...my grandpa died because he threw his blood on an imp...the imp still lived...grandpa died...so the mission failed." Father Rossini said,"No my son...your grandfather bought us time....Gozin was very late because he had to search for the Draint's bones...there is a small window of time for the birth...the son of evil must be born before midnight this very night."
Cora added,"The conception was at 7:44 this morning....the incubation period is 16 hours....the conception was supposed to take place at 6:00 this morning but Gozin had to search for the bones...gather them and consume them." Daniel said with a slightly shaking voice,"So my grandpa died for something...he died to help us." Father Rossini and Cora both touched Daniel's shoulders and Father Rossini said,"Yes Daniel....your grandfather was such a brave man...I am honored to have known him."
While eating breakfast they continued their conversation. Daniel asked,"So what now Padre?" Father Rossini said,"We prepare for the birth....we have to have 4 ounces of your blood Daniel." Daniel grinned and said,"OK...but the last time you did this...my grandpa died...and I'm only 33...I want to live a long life Padre...how about you tossing it on the imp this time?" Father Rossini looked a little puzzled as Daniel laughed and said,"Just kidding Padre...I want some family payback on that piece of crap!"
Daniel asked,"There is one thing...if grandpa's blood didn't kill that thing...what difference will mine make?" Father Rossini answered,"Daniel my son...if we stop the imp from doing his job...his master will kill him...Gozin knows that you are the bloodline and he knows what we plan to do....what he doesn't know is that you my son have the secret bullets." Daniel laughed and said,"What secret bullets?"
Father Rossini pulled an old 38 revolver from his inner coat pocket and said,"This was your grandfather's gun....it has 6 hollow point bullets in it...each bullet was filled with your grandfather's seed and sealed with wax.....the seed of good has the power to stun evil for a time." Daniel grinned as he took the gun and said,"Come on Padre...you mean my grandpa put his semen in these bullets...and why didn't he shoot the bastard?"
Father Rossini answered,"Yes he did insert the semen but as he drew the gun...Gozin attacked his heart with a curse....you have already shot Gozin....he thinks your seed is powerless." Cora spoke out with a grin,"You'll have to make new bullets Daniel...I hope you have some hollow points and a candle." Daniel blushed beet red and said,"Oh...come on now...you have got to be joking...right?"
Father Rossini said,"I'm afraid she is right Daniel....6 new bullets must be made...the ones in your grandfather's gun..... the semen is far too deteriorated." Daniel grinned and said,"Well...this is a first....shooting at a bullet." Cora laughed and said,"Silly....we have to use a syringe and a cup." Daniel asked,"Well...could I get some help?" Now...Cora's face was beet red as she giggled,"No...I am sure you can do the job yourself."
After the laughter settled down...Daniel asked,"So how to we find the imp and Dorina?" Father Rossin grinned and said,"I know right where they are.
