Russell sat by the river
looking down at a rippling moon
sad from what he could not give her
oh, she said "no" too soon
he became loved and wealthy
helps out the lame and poor
she found a man with money
but got nothing more
Violet sat by the river
looking down at a rippling sky
sad, her fiance had left her
waiting alone there in white
she became loved and wealthy
helps those disabled like her
he found the perfect body
but brought him only hurt
the greatest lesson I've learned so far
I've come to understand
if you don't have gold in your heart
it's useless in your hand
Now Russel and Violet
Share the rippling stars

Julie...my dad loved to sing and dance. He would play the guitar or violin and harmonica at the same time. I wish I had recordings of him performing.
Mom would sing old gospel songs with him...I love those memories. :)

Thank you for sharing those things. My father tap danced also. Yes...Susan Boyle is amazing..My wife and I are going to buy her album as a Christmas present for both of us.
As for me....I've been writing songs for years. I've written lots of Rock and Country. I've made hundreds of demos. I mostly sing and play guitar.
We lived in Nashville for six years and made wonderful friends in and out of the music business.
I co-wrote songs with famous and not so famous writers.
I was going to try to be an artist but they told me that I was too old at 36. I wonder how man great entertainers that the business has turned away because they didn't fit in a star suit?
Haa...enough complaining.
I loved reading about the people you met and your mum...thanks again Julie. :)

Hi Larkin,I thought this was beautiful. An amazing verse. There is a lesson for us all in the words 'if you don't have gold in the heart its useless in your hand.
The last two lines 'Now Russell and Violet share the rippling stars' this seems to me to be the perfecting ending.
Larkin Williamson | September 27, 2010 - 20:38
tinkerbell....thank you so much. :)
