I had thought about following the cops to the police station but kissing Tammy won out over curiosity. It wasn't long until a tow truck went by. About a half hour later...the tow truck passed by us again with an old black pick up truck hooked on it. Tammy recognized it as Harvey's truck.
It was getting close to supper time...we left for Tammy's house to ask if she could have supper at my house. I called mom from Tammy's house to ask her and mom delightfully said,"Yes."
When we got to my house...dad was working on his car...I introduced Tammy to dad and Tammy walked up to meet mom on the porch. Dad watched Tammy walk away and whispered to me,"Your mother had a butt like that once." I whispered back,"Dad...please...please behave at supper."
Dad just grinned and went back under the hood. Our entire conversation at supper time was about the killings and how Harvey was the killer. Dad had seen Harvey's truck on the day of the murders. We also talked about Thankful and her colorful life. Dad still thought she was an old bat. Mom smacked Dad's arm quite a few times for asking Tammy if I was a good at necking and other personal things.
After supper, Tammy and I went back to her house to go to the concert with her mom and dad. We arrived at the Murat Concert Hall and made our way in. Three Dog Night was awesome! The entire crowd stood up and sang along with "Joy To The World!" We had a great time. Her parents even had a great time...though...I think her dad looked in the rear view mirror a thousand times. We got back to her house just after midnight.
I kissed her goodnight on the porch and headed home. I turned on the radio...tuned it in to the local news station....after some sports crap about the Sunrise baseball team....the DJ said,"Local man...Harlan Kremble has been detained as a suspect in the three recent murders in Sunrise....Detective Don Croze told WKFT News that evidence and motive has linked Mr. Kremble to the crimes."
I thought for sure that the guy in the cop car was Harvey...I guess Harvey must have told Harlan what Thankful told him?
I went home and went right to bed. I wanted to get up early...pick up Tammy at 8:00 and go to Thankful's house. I could still smell Tammy's perfume in my room. I went to sleep with her on my mind.
