Innocent Victim

This lad looked evil,
at the front of his gang,
they all had hoods,
like the ku klux klan,

he glared into my eyes,
I couldn’t hold the stare,
I cried 'what have I done'
he just stood there,

I was frightened of these thugs,
I prayed someone would come,
I didn’t have the bottle,
to just turn and run,

I didn’t try to fight them off,
not on my own,
what did they want?
money? A phone?

I forced myself to speak again,
I said to the front lad,
‘What do you want from me’,
I could tell that he was bad,

he just kept on looking,
tightly gripping on his blade,
his mouth slowly opened,
‘Please don’t’ I prayed,

‘NOW’ he shouted,
the gang rushed at me,
knives struck my upper body,
there wasn’t much I could see,

when they got up,
their job was nearly done,
they stood there and looked,
as if it had been fun,

the leader stood there like an idol,
receiving pats on the back,
‘Come on lets go’ he said,
he zipped up his hooded mac,

my eyes rolled back,
and I knew full well this wasn’t fair,
but sometimes in life you have to accept,
some people just don’t care
