Decline in Fish Stock

from the ABC set Doodles

Bones, skin, fins, scales,
wisps of lovers, silvery tales.

Soup, liquor, consomme, broth;
essence of unplighted troth.

Pot simmers, chowder stews,
slow reduction, stinking glue

holds eye transfixed to the page,
savour somewhat lost with age.

last line a bit of an understatement!! I think the random headline is a brilliant idea for inspiration

Very good! My family decided to rescue a couple of fish the other day who'd been left out in very little water in a front garden when their owners moved house. Sounds very charitable but one of them is the ugliest thing you could imagine. Gives me a similar shock and sense of disgust when I enter the room as your last line. So very timely (for me at least)...
