I do not need to strip
the layers of your disguise
to know what lies underneath
oil, metal, a beeswax varnish -
the pine dissolved a path
for you to steam through
and limonened, I read
the grain of porous skin beneath;
it breathes the same breath,
the same story, one more year
in a ring of time - uninterrupted
growth, in wrinkles and saltlines.
An alkaline truth takes away an acid
tongue, when by love we are undone.

ahem...limonene + bit of cheek = cleaned/stripped - it is like turps...solvent - from lemon - often used for furniture restoring, and as orange/citrus scent/perfume for cleaning products etc. So an acidic reference but i ´m chemically ignorant to continue to try and make any further sense, and shall leave the rest up to answers.com :o)

I love it when words are used in this way: it makes people think (well me anyway), brilliant.
