A Solipsist and a Narcissist
Philosophize and Soliloquize,
Thinking they have had
A musical discussion,
Sharing nothing,
Both feeling very wise.
Each Soloist, sure their part
Stands alone - by far the most true.
They hadn't actually forgotten
Something that they never knew,
Each believed the other, always...
Played so out of tune...
But from their mass debate,
Incidentally, a child was born.
Any sign of 'existence separate'
Must be ignored or beaten down.
For a Solipsist insists
In absence, you don't exist
And a Narcissist's narcosis
Is more vicious than belief.
Then the baby grew in height.
Each Soloist, sure their part
Stands alone - by far the most true...
They hadn't actually forgotten
Something that they never knew...
Each ambivalent note, alone and bored:
A trio born
Which can't play chords,
Except, incidentally;
As the eternal
Soundtrack
To the perfect family...
