Stars

Last night with my breath steaming
I lay and looked at the cold night sky
The stars twinkling, shining down on me
All was tranquil, calm and beautiful
The world seemed like a wonderful place to be
As I gazed at the sky I thought of you
Of lying head to head on a bench in the Grand Canyon
Of how amazing it felt, how awestruck I was
By the astounding beauty of the world
And how much I loved you.
Last night took me back there again
To that place in time
Where it was just you and me
Happy together
Our love was lost in the stars.
