There's a spot on the ceiling
in the corner, my eyes focus
trying hard not to think
of the future
my happy button is off
as daylight screams horrid words
into daydreaming ears
of pretence, you see I am a fraud
a fighter in disguise
every day my life is a battle
unacknowledgement
is my cloak, a smile my dagger
it's part of me, a human manakin
touch this flesh, you can not tell
five years is a long time
to perfect realism for my world
give me a clap and some applause
before the spotlight falls
on the lie that I am
but as you leave
see me and know me
it is my finale after all.
