A Higher Echelon

from the ABC set Poems

There is a higher echelon
when my imagination
persists, demands
your essence
in my mind.

Somewhere out of reach
of human touch
a soft summer glow
firing my senses
in your light.

Something inexplicable
it has no right
to exist in reality
but entered wantonly
into our lives.

There is a higher echelon
no one can describe
futile any understanding
for simple man
to quantify.

Loved this Louise, beautifully crafted particularly first two stanzas. Struggled with last stanza and how you want futile to be read, is there a pause after describe and futile or just describe? Fab. :-)

the last 3 lines are very good Jackie. A poem with a profound profile. I like a poem that makes me think.
Well done

Thank you fatboy and Highhat, well the first two lines of the last stanza go together then as you say fatboy there is a pause after describe. I was experimenting with stanzas, and word patterns a little in this, though obviously there is an overall message of the time old thing we called love and how you can't describe it and how it makes you feel and does it exist or is it just....:)

...an abstract noun? Stays with you this one- really well done. :-)
