Lipstick IP

from the ABC set Poems

I do this daily, will admit to no one,
even I am left bewildered
by the reason for the application
of the mask...

Many years have passed
I can not tell you who I am
as me was lost in the clothes
the men, perfume, lipstick
that changed with the seasons
different ages through which I passed

Now here I stand, a funny mixture
falsely brave, falsely proud
values morals long gone departed
hated what they witnessed
could take no more, packed up
they left me, to guide myself alone

Yet my red lips still smile
and seduce memories
of the past, deliciously as always
I think I am victorious
but the world stands by
it points, hideously it laughs....

'Yet my red lips still smile and seduce memories of the past,' Lovely line this - your poems always feel very real emotionally. Well done Louise. :-)
