I did not care for but today
the wind blew strong
against my face
my hands coloured red
from winter cold
as I quickly hurried home.
I did not care for but today
the heavy dullness
of the afternoon
did nothing to
cheer my mood
as I drew curtains
shutting out darkness
that came all too soon.
I did not care for but today
the hours the minutes
they dragged so slow
but I am ever hopeful
of a fresh tomorrow
with bright blue skies
and golden winter sun
But I did not care for but today....

This works so well Louise - even the strange wording of that repeated first line that suggests it could go on forever. Very much enjoyed - well done! :-)

I too love the quirky first line of the verses - it really makes this poem work well.
